Bead & Reel believes that fashion and ethics aren't mutually exclusive, offering eco-friendly, cruelty-free, sweatshop-free styles for the conscientious woman.
In 2014 Costume Designer Sica Schmitz left her career in film and television to create a place that better reflected her own values, a boutique where like-minded brands are brought together to make ethical shopping easy, stylish, and affordable.
Everything we sell meets the criteria of being thoughtful to people, animals, and the world through our carefully curated selection of hand-picked designers and products. As a woman-owned business we emphasis supporting other women by showcasing female artisans, designers, and organizations that give back to help women across the world. You can even shop by category, choosing Women-Owned brands and styles that Empower Women.
Fashion is a feminist issue. There are 40 million garment factory workers in the world and more than 85 percent of these workers are women earning less than $3 per day.
Empowering women with fair wages breaks the cycle of poverty and transforms the world, and we want to help you do that with flattering pieces in Fair Trade, Made in America, Organic, Recycled, Upcycled, Zero Waste, Biodegradable, Vegan, and Giving Back options. We want you to be comfortable with what you wear, shopping with confidence that your purchases are supporting policies and choices working to make the world better for women (and everyone).
Based out of Los Angeles, CA and shipping across America, we're on a mission to save the world through fashion. We hope you'll join us.
Cheers,
Sica Schmitz
