Amy-

I'm in high school, and I'm confused to why there's a women's pro football league but we don't have girls' football in high school. It makes me mad when I hear guys say they don't think girls can play football.

Every time I hear guys saying stuff like that it makes me want to prove them wrong. Even though that's a main reason I would want to play, I also think it would be fun. I don't know what I should do to make a move on this. I was hoping you would have some ideas. If you do I would really appreciate it if you would respond to this message because I don't know what to do.

I've searched online for info but everything leads to men's football and women apparel from men teams. If you could tell me of some girls football camps in Minnesota that would else help.

Thanks a bunch.

- Megan

Megan -- good question.

I know that girls play football in High School, but it's often as a part of the boys team. Same thing seems to happen with wrestling. Some of the argument is funding and some of it is interest -- they don't believe that they have enough girls to support an entire team and even if they do, other schools won't and so they won't have anyone to compete with.

Of course, they can't know what the interest is until they try -- so they should be encouraged to at least try. You might want to reach out to the Women's Sports Foundation, they have more information on this and might even know of some football camps for girls.

Good luck,

- Amy
