Hi there! My name is Barbara, and I am a student in WA. I am preparing for a presentation on the oppression of women in the justice system. I've had very little luck with Internet information. If you know of any resources that may be useful or information that could be sent to me, please let me know. Thank You, Barbara

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM. The first stop in your research should be Phyllis Chesler's groundbreaking book, Mothers on Trial (It might be called "women on trial.") She documents how women are misused by the justice system. This book will give you a general overview and personal stories. Also, you might try the NOW Legal Defense & Education Fund.

I would also suggest:
The National Women's Law Center:
1616 P Street NW
Washington, DC 20036
(202) 328-5160; fax (202) 328-5137

I hope this helps.
