Hi! My name is Heather and I am a student at Stephens College. I am currently doing a research paper on Feminist theatres. I was wondering if there was any information you could send me, or someone I could get in contact with about the evolution of feminist theatre, how theatre and theory are connected in the feminist play. Connecting with another person would help me get a context to what I have been reading. I enjoyed your website; I'm glad I discovered it in my search. Thank you.

Peace,
Heather

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM. While reading your e-mail--I called my friend Tanya--who is my resident Theatre expert. Together we came up with the following list:

  • Liz LeCompte-the creator of the Wooster Group
  • Adrienne Kennedy--a good avande garde example
  • Conway and Pratt--last year they did--"A Woman's Work is Never Done".

Also, there is the Women's Shakespeare Company founded by Lisa Volpe--based in Los Angles. In New York City, there was also the New Georges Theatre. Also, Carol Gilligan and Susan Sontag--both of whom are not primarily artists, but whom do theatrical work would be worth investigating.
