I have just finished reading Caroline Bird's newest book: Lives of Our Own: Secrets of Salty Old Women. Excellent work; I loved it, but she referred to Margaret Mead's idea of "postmenopausal zest" and for the life of me I cannot find the original information. Have you heard of this thought? Do you know of the reference? Can you help? I want to know more! Thanks so much, Marsha

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM. I have heard of this...because Gloria Steinem wrote about it in her article "Doing Sixty," which is in her book Moving Beyond Words. I know that you can find it in Mary Catherine Bateson's biography of Margaret Mead.
