I'm interested about women in the military and plan to do some kind investigation about the Estonian army and women involved with it. It is not a professional investigation, I am doing this for myself. Which aspects should I follow? Also I am interested about literature in this area.

Kersti

Dear Kersti,

The best source I have found on women in the military is the work of Cynthia Enloe, including her book, Maneuvers. She also writes for the New York Times and Ms. Magazine on the subject of women in the military, as well as the miniaturization of women's lives.

Also the Center for Women's Global Leadership, which is based at Rutgers University and headed by Charlotte Bunch, has done tons of research on how women are used during times of war, including how rape is a weapon of war.

This seems like a different perspective than what you are trying to take, but an interest way of thinking about women and the military.

Good luck,

Amy
