To find out the number of women heads of state, I suggest you contact Laura Liswood, who is the Director of the Council of Women World Leaders at Harvard University. She has both a book and a video on this subject. (Her book, Women World Leaders is available at the Feminist.com Bookstore under "International"). I do know that the U.S. ranks 39th out of 160 nations in female representation in government.
