I am a second year medical student and am trying to get our curriculum reformed. Last year, abortion was not mentioned once. The faculty in charge say they dedicate the most time to what is "most common" and thus abortion is not included...but we had a whole hour lecture on hemaphrodism! It is outrageous that future doctors aren't learning about this. Please help me by giving me some abortion statistics (how many women in the U.S. get one...etc.) so I cn present this to them, thank you. Sincerely, Penina

Thanks for your note. From your email, I couldn't tell if you were familiar with Medical Students for Choice--an organization devoted entirely to getting abortion curriculum implemented in medical schools. They are the best resource on this and given their expertise and success--they have the most information on how to approach it. I suggest you contact them directly -- [email protected] or go to www.ms4c.org.

Also, thanks for making sure that other students at your school get the comprehensive training they deserve. I know that others thank you, too.
