Hi, I've read a couple of varying stats for how many cents to the dollar women make compared to men. Do you know what the latest numbers are in regards to pay equity? Are there any web sites that you would recommend checking?

Thanks,
Kem

Dear Kem,

The problem with the way wage differences are done is that we mostly work from averages, for instance, on average, women make 76 cents to every dollar earned by men. However, this average doesn't reveal that if you are a black women you earn only approximately 56 cents to every dollar earned by men and if you are a Latina it's below 50 cents. Keep this in mind as you are doing your research. You can learn more specifics by going to:

The National Committee on Pay Equity

The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics

Good Luck,
Amy
