How does one go about finding qualified female professionals? I'm presently looking for a lawyer and I would really prefer dealing with a woman. Can you offer any advice?

Thanks for your note to FEMINIST.COM. In a few cities (St. Louis, New York, Philadelphia, etc..) there are yellow pages specifically for "women friendly" professionals, businesses, etc... (There are two in NYC--one is put out by the Crystal Quilt and the other the NY Commission on the Status of Women). In some instances these are put out by the YWCA or other branches of a national organization. In other instances, more local groups put them out. So you can start there. Additionally, there are professional women's organizations--such as the Women's branch of the American Bar Association and of the American Medical Association. There is also NAFE--National Association of Female Executives--and their conferencing which highlights women professionals. (You can reach them at 212-445-6100).
