Fiddlers Green Farm is owned and operated by two women in their homes
and barns on the Penobscot Bay in mid coast Maine. They produce high
quality baking mixes and cereals, using different mixtures of 100%
organic grains which they selectively toast, then stone grind to order
in their old-fashioned stone mill. It is a true whole family operation
with the kids, ranging in ages from 7 to 14, participating in many
facets of the business, from putting labels on bags, boxes and mailings,
to sampling and helping to create new products. Izzie’s Irish Oats is a
favorite of 8 year old Isabel’s, a smooth and delicious blend of
steel-cut oats, millet, and almonds. Caroline, now 15 years old, helped
create Caroline’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix- an all organic version of
the traditional toll house cookie. Other Fiddlers products include a
toasted buckwheat Pancake/Muffin Mix, a wheat-free Oats & Barley
Pancake/Baking Mix, a wheat-free pancake mix called Fiddle cakes- made
from corn, oats, barley, and rice flours, a Bran Muffin Mix, three Scone
Mixes, a four grain cereal- Penobscot Porridge, a seven grain cereal-
Islanders’ Choice, an Oat Bran & Brown Rice Cereal, several oatmeals,
granolas, and a muesli.
Fiddlers Green also makes jams and syrups from their neighbor’s organic
blueberries and apples. In addition, they sell organic coffees and teas,
raisins and trail mix, stone ground organic flours, and a selection of
wonderful gift packs and baskets.
We have organically farmed for many years. We believe in having good
clean, chemical and pesticide free and GMO-free food for ourselves and
our families, and we are committed to providing delicious organic food
for our customers. We want also to raise public awareness about the
unnecessary widespread use of chemicals and pesticides in food
production, as well as the out of control spread of genetically modified
use and contamination in our food supply. These factors deeply affect
our health and the health of the environment.
In our fast paced culture, there is a growing trend toward hastle-free
processed foods. We urge people to think of the overall picture. By
choosing organically grown foods, we are reducing dependency on
petroleum based products (chemical fertilizers & pesticides), reducing
damage to the ozone, reducing ground-water contamination, and making a
long-term investment in agricultural practices that can sustain
fertility and productive capacity for generations without harming the
environment. All this and safe, delicious food on the table too! Please
join us in bringing more organic whole foods to as many people as
possible, not just through our products but in all your daily choices!”
