Saint Theresa of Avila (1515-1582)

Saint Theresa of Avila was a prominent Spanish mystic,
Carmelite nun and writer of the Counter Reformation. She was also
a theologian of contemplative life through mental prayer. She was
a reformer of the Carmelite Order and is considered to be a founder
of the Discalced Carmelites. 40 years after her death, she was canonized.
Saint Theresa of Avila was also a writer with her
seminal work El Castillo Interior which is an integral part of Christian
mysticism and Christian meditation practices also highlighted in
her other work Camino de Perfeccion.
